Sony impresses with its new conception, the Sony Mavica FD-85 which is a very exciting camera and entering with force a very competitive market! It was presented in North America on the 03/2/00. The Sony Mavica FD-85 is sold at a price of 800in the US, a great deal. The Mavica FD-85 offers a maximum resolution of 1280 x 960. It also supports a lower resolution of 1280 x 848 (3:2) & 640 x 480. The image ratio on the Sony Mavica FD-85 is 4:3, 3:2, making a total of 1.2 mega pixels. The sensor on the Mavica FD-85 is a CCD of dimensions 1/2.7 " and uses a RGB color filter. Sony included a digital zoom on the Mavica FD-85 with an internal flash being a standard in nowadays cameras .
The normal focus range is 1 cm. The movie mode is supported in this version which is always a useful function. The Sony Mavica FD-85 includes an internal memory of 1.44 mb and can be extended with external storage by using Disk 3.5" + MemoryStick via adapter. The LCD screen of the Mavica FD-85 is measuring 2.5 ". A video out plug exists allowing you to watch your favorite pictures on television.
